PlantGo Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information the PlantGo mobile app (“PlantGo”, “we”, “us”) collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. You can use PlantGo as a guest without an account; signing in is only needed to post sightings and keep your progress.
1. Information we collect
- Account information: when you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, Google account ID and profile photo. We use these to create and identify your PlantGo account.
- Profile details you choose: if you change your display name or upload a profile picture, we store them on our server.
- Precise location: with your permission, PlantGo reads your device location while the app is open, to show plant sightings near you and to record where a sighting was made. We do not access your location in the background.
- Photos: with your permission, PlantGo uses your camera or photo library to take or choose plant photos for identification and for sightings you post.
- App activity: sightings you post, votes and cheers you give, posts you report, users you block, XP, level and app settings.
2. How we use your information
- To identify plant species from your photos.
- To show nearby sightings on the radar and map.
- To run your account, XP, level and badges, and to sync them across devices.
- To show your posted sightings in the community feed.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising. PlantGo shows no ads.
3. What other users can see
Sightings you post are public within PlantGo. Other users can see the photo, plant name, the location where it was recorded, and your display name and profile picture.
Posts must follow our Community Guidelines. You can report any post or block any user in the app. When you report a post, we store the post, the reason and your account ID so we can review it.
4. Third-party services
- Google Sign-In / Firebase Authentication for signing in. Google Privacy Policy.
- Pl@ntNet: plant photos you scan are sent to the Pl@ntNet identification API to get species suggestions. Pl@ntNet legal information.
- OpenStreetMap map tiles are loaded to display maps.
5. Security and storage
All data is sent between the app and our server over encrypted HTTPS connections. Account data and sightings are stored on our server until you delete them or your account.
6. Deleting your account and data
- In the app: open the Profile tab while signed in and tap Delete my account. Your account is deleted immediately.
- By email: if you no longer have the app, email albertrohit23@gmail.com from the address you signed in with. Your account will be permanently deleted within 30 days.
Deletion removes your profile (name, email, profile picture), XP and level, all sightings you posted including their photos and locations, your votes on other sightings, your reports and blocks, and your settings. We keep no account data after deletion, except where the law requires us to.
7. Children
PlantGo is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
8. Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
